I love this site so much and am proud to have been coming here for years and years, pretty much since its conception.
I have learnt as much from people on this board as I have some drum teachers...

I jumped into this board feet 1st and have loved every minute of it since. Steve, Derek, Jon, Randy... are fine human beings and massive players in their own right. Obviously into it for the love of music and drumming. Not to forget all those that contribute selflessly and passionately, you all know who you are.
The most recent meetups while taking trips and hooking up with Zak & Drumaddix are part of this magic. Hangs with LaDanny, Steve, Derek, Jon, Randy, Pocket, and many others that I'm forgetting show how the board brings people together on many levels. You've even got a kid (S.P.) coming to Los Angeles from China!!
The fledglings of this website remind me of another I'm involved with, www.tikicentral.com It's another webpage where people can share their love of polynisian music, culture, knick knacks, etc. Tiki is the thing there. The reason I mention them is because I see the same thing happening here.
We just (a few weeks ago) went to the 4th Tiki Oasis in Palm Springs. From it's Yahoo group beginnings, it's turned into an international event. There must have been 300 maybe more people that showed up for the weekend at the Caliente Tropics hotel for the weekend of partying and Polynisian themed shows, music, and other stuff.
Maybe the International House of Drumming Jazz Festival?? Where should it be held?? Who should be performing?? Will there be a drum circle?? Who will be hired for clinics (and therefore be video taped FINALLY "WITH" their consent [img]wink.gif[/img] )
Love this board and the people.

For those of you who didn't see it Manos had a hyper-kinetic mpg(?) of a drummer flailing, it looked like a kid but it was small. More than doing a hand foot roll I got the notion he was doing the humpty hump.
It was great, if a little hard on the eyes. Too bad ya'll missed it.

I am not surprised at the growth
of this forum.
1. There is great talent here.
2. There are great names here.
3. There are earnest people here and that are always looking to improve themselves.
4. There is great info here and not just on drums.
5. There are people here that care about other people and that might be the standout.
Finally, Steve has demonstrated that he is out for us - by excelling, himself, encouraging others to be open and considerate.

I'd be interested myself. I spent two years aboard a carrier floating around the Indian Ocean. Music helped keep me sane. [img]graemlins/music.gif[/img]
